Kathleen Cagney, a professor of sociology and former deputy dean at the University of Chicago, has been appointed director of the College of Michigan’s Institute for Social Study.

Cagney, who grew up in Michigan, been given a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and political science from Western Michigan College. She gained a Master’s in Public Coverage from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in health policy and management from Johns Hopkins University.
